NOT YOUR AVERAGE GEAR REVIEW
THE OLD BAG NO NOT YOUR WIFE
Hunting Bags well there are only a million so I will try to give you an idea of what kind of bags work best for what situation. The easiest and clearest choice for a great hunting bag is one with a million pockets, or so most hunters wish. I have always liked a compact back just because I hunt an open stand most of the time and in a climber, you simply just don’t have the room for a big bulky bag.
WITH GREAT BAGS COMES GREAT DURABILITY
Great bags are durable and have insanely strong straps. Why your ask well because any good hunter knows that you must have everything under the sun in it when you hunt. Your bag will also get caught on branches, briars, the stand, logs etc. So, durability is key. I have learned over time just to pack some basics that are critically important. It is 100% dependent on where I am hunting that decides what I actually pack.
YOU CARRY WHAT IN YOUR BAG?
If I want to go and hunt public land, then besides the essentials “TOILET PAPER” ha-ha. I will pack my GPS, it is a tool that you will only regret not packing when you get turned around. Believe me I hunt in some areas where everything looks the same and a good GPS will warm your heart believe me. You can see what GPS I like here. If you have ever been lost you know a good GPS eases the panic, and just in case you forgot the GPS you always have the toilet paper. I will also have a fire starter, knife, rope, rain gear, and some trail mix, dry foods, etc. I would also pack calls and my rattling horns things of this nature. These are essentials because when hunting public land, I don’t usually get out of the stand, I stay all day.
Now if I am hunting my property or other property that I have been hunting a long time then I usually have just the essentials. This would include calls, rattling horns, knife, rain gear, maybe rope depending on the stand. Most times these are box blinds and you basically get in sit down and hunt. I don’t bring food because I usually head back to the house or the camp mid to later morning for lunch.
TIDE DOES NOT WORK AS A DEER ATTRACTANT
I also like to pack my hunting clothes in scent free bags. Now this a variety out there I really like the Scent-Lok bags. Scent-Lok bags are more like traveling bags most others are just lick a sack for stuffing things in. My wife loves to wash my hunting clothes and always make sure they smell pretty. UGGGG this drives me nuts but it’s the thought that counts. Well a good scent lock bag can help eliminate that just washed in Tide smell that the deer love so much.
You can check out the bags I have attached here and see which one fits you the best.
